***Do not spray
baste or
baste quilt top in any method when sending it to me for quilting. This
defeats the ability of the LongArm Quilting machine.

Quilt top - Always physically measure quilt top. Do not
rely on pattern’s finished size notes. This becomes very important when
calculating backing and batting.
Measure in three
places (top, middle, bottom) and then average the three for your
vertical dimensions. Using this method will give you a much more
accurate estimate of your quilt top’s overall size, thus saving
frustration for both of us.

Backing Fabric-
Have your quilt backing pieced and pressed. Your quilt backing must be 6
inches larger than the quilt top on all 4 sides, Sorry, no exceptions.
Backing fabric should be
good quality 100% cotton. You've invested a lot of effort in your
top, please don't skimp on your choice of backing!

Batting - Batting must also be 6 inches larger than the
quilt top on all 4 sides, If you are providing your batting and not
purchasing it from me, please cut it no more than 8" larger than
your top or the same size as your backing. Sorry, no exceptions.
For best results, I
prefer you to use Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting. You can get this at your
local Quilt Shop, or I have it available to purchase in 96” or 120”
widths. I will accept Hobbs pre-packed 80/20 batting, but strongly
recommend not to use it. It becomes very wrinkled and is usually not
consistent in loft like batting off the bolt.
Other battings will
need to be approved by me first, as some types do not do well in a
LongArm machine. Just email me with any batting questions. Click
Pricing tab for Pricing on Batting.**

Thread Selection
- Pricing includes one solid (neutral) color that we will choose from my stock. If
you prefer to send your own thread, please email me first to verify I am
comfortable with the brand. Again, this is an important element in the
outcome of your quilt.
When considering
using a different color for the top and the bottom thread, keep in mind
that the LongArm machines are designed to sew in all directions, thus
causing pokies to show through if multiple colors are used or even with
some variegated threads. This is just the nature of the beast and is not
the fault of my quilting. If you would like further verification of that
fact, you may visit the Nolting website at
www.nolting.com.

Excess Threads-Trim
all hanging threads so they will not show through in quilting.

Pressing- Press quilt top and backing prior to shipping.

Borders- Keep in mind that borders which have
been improperly applied may have a wave in them. If this problem exists,
quilting will not fix the problem. If you need help on how to properly
apply your borders, please contact your local quilt shop.
